A Jab Molassie - A Greeting Post Card

The Paramin Blue Devils at Adam Smith square, Trinidad

This performer is part of a Blue Devil band. His portrayal is the grotesque character called the Jab Molassie. At the time his photograph was taken, the Jab Molassie displayed the devilish antics by ravaging through a bag of popcorn and consuming a lunch cardboard box. He also plodded along the grass by pivoting his foot. Although it looked as if he was humping it.

These traditional carnival characters are a fright to see as hoards of devils players marched together and make their presence known by whistling, screeching chants or beating a tin-pan. The performance at Adam Smith's Square is a sample of a grand show ahead which is the festival of Blue, Red and White Devils in Paramin, Maraval. This is in tradition with the roots of community which up keeps the carnival festival. Paramin is location which is the hilly terrain on the North coast of Trinidad, you need a van to get there.
