Che's J'Ouvert

J'Ouvert, time to get drunk and get on bad......

A group of panmen fuelled a small J'Ouvert mud band,
lilibud jouvay on the streets of Port of Spain.

Band members from Che Lovelace's lilibud jouvay worked their energy by chipping and wining and were rewarded with alcohol and mud. As the band passed through the streets of Port of Spain, onlookers begged for a handful of clay mud which is an essential part of the festival. J'Ouvert can be best described only by participating in it and the event gauges the amount of energy you need to dance the carnival marathon for the two days straight.

lilibud jouvay was not a commercial venture to make money and a some members deserted the band because it had no music truck. Yet this did not swag the others from have a wail of a good time as they were bathed with alcohol. J'Ouvert begins at 4 o'clock in the morning and generally ends at by 9 am. After the ordeal, you have to drag youself home and wash off the dried mud. This has a therapeutic and cleansing feel to it.
