Wangechi Mutu’s perched throne

Mutu creates an evocative curtained environment, scattered throughout with Mutu’s ‘Thrones’, simple wooden chairs perched on elongated legs, suggesting a hush arbor, or so-called safe haven – Performa

Feinin's precarious dance under a latrine. Mutu’s works with collages, her work closely resembles Chris Offili

What is an contemporary installation without this device called a chair, stool or table hung from stilts, hung from poles, wire, hung upside down, broken in two, twisted, placed in a circle, at a corner, what have you, but most likely an antique. I don’t think I’ve seen this type of throne used before, am I the first?
